SAIL offers several programs geared toward preparing teens and their parents for employment, independence, and community connections. These programs include:

Mentoring Program for Court-Involved Youth
This program gives court-involved juveniles with disabilities hands-on learning experiences in probation and community service compliance, job search and work skills, cooking and nutrition education, and financial literacy. Many of these young people will soon be on their own, either by choice or the result of a family situation, and they will need the basic skills they have not learned at home.

Upper Peninsula Youth Leadership Program
SAIL offers opportunities throughout the year for youth to participate in leadership programs and workshops. Events include:

  • U.P. Wide Legislative Forum
  • Action Day Conference
  • Self empowerment & self advocacy workshops
  • Voting Rights Forum

Finally, SAIL offers Independent Living Skills Building Workshops on:

  • Building Your Financial Future
  • Financial Literacy
  • Job Search and Work Skills
  • Cooking and Nutrition Education
